I love the ending of The Gardener. The p...Hi Emily,<br />I love the ending of The Gardener. The pictures are really great for making inferences. Tight Times is a wonderful book as well. I would also suggest Fireflies! by Julie Brinkloe. My fourth graders were working on theme last week and we used El Chino by Allen Say. I took Those Shoes out of the library recently but I didn't think of using it to teach teme. Thanks for the idea.
